I Segreti della Mente Emotiva

The Langstone method — published under a pen name (David R. Vexley and Meredith Dovell)

A book that combines psychology, cognitive science and neural models to explain, in an accessible way, how the mind works and how to manage anxiety and fear through introspection.

The common thread is the cerebellum as the seat of the automatic, involuntary mind — the unconscious. The implicit component forms in the first years of life, letting us walk, talk and interact instinctively, before conscious reasoning emerges, at around seven years old.

The method goes through the main schools of thought — psychoanalysis, cognitive-behavioural approaches, Gestalt, behaviourism — to offer practical techniques for managing fear and impulsiveness, through visualisation exercises designed to activate the implicit mind.

120 pages, 7 chapters plus appendices, covering neurological foundations, cerebellar activation techniques, psychological applications and emotional processing.
